Thank you Cards

1. Absolutely believe in showing gratitude through "thank you" cards.
2. Constantly struggle to get them out in a timely fashion.
3. I believe it's important to teach my kids to write "thank you" notes.
4. Still haven't been able to sit with Isaac to write his birthday & baptism "thank you" notes from January.
5. When I receive a "thank you" I always feel surprised. The sender has always verbally said "thank you" prior to sending a note. I never EVER expect a "thank you" card. I don't give gifts to receive a thank you. That's probably why I love receiving the cards - surprise surprise.
6. I'm actually bugged by people that keep a tally of "thank you" cards that are received based on the gifts they give. Or the people that get grumpy when they don't receive a card.
7. On the positive side....sometimes traditions, like "thank you" cards, are a valuable piece of wisdom handed down through time. It brings with it love, smiles, gratitude, humility, kindness and respect. Gratitude gratitude gratitude!!!!
8. I just write them as soon as I can. A note of "thanks" has just as much influence on me, the writer, as it probably does on the receiver. The more I write down the things for which I am grateful, the happier my life seems to be. (I think that's why I love blogging soo much).

Who would have thought that such a small thing could emanate such amazing influence?

Your bathroom looks rad...nice to have talented help in the family.

I hope to establish a grand tradition of thank you cards. My mom certainly helped me see the importance...although, I will say that after having to compile my list of about 600 thank you cards to write from our wedding, I started to LOATHE thank you cards. I started writing them in weird places...BYU football games, sacrament meeting (yes, I know, bad, bad), the bus (not good on the handwriting).

Cath - this is a good reminder to me of how important saying thank you is - especially in a card! It is true - I am always surprised when I get a thank you card. This is making me think about how many people I need to perhaps send a card to to thank them for being so great in my life! Thanks for that post!
