Family Quilt

This is Bry's family a long time ago. Bry is in the 2nd row from the top, on the right. Nice hair - love the middle part and feathering!

As a gift for Bryan's parent's anniversary (Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!), Marie (the youngest cutie in the picture) asked each of Bryan's siblings/spouses to contribute a 10" x 10" square of fabric that incorporated memories of their Mom and Dad or represented something about each child. She also asked for a square representing not only Bryan and his siblings but their spouses and children as well.

Here are our family squares....

1. Bryan - His square represents his scouting days and earning his Eagle. His love of scouting was a huge thing in his life. He loved the support and encouragement from his parents! Thanks to Don and Karen for raising a great guy!!

My square seems a little random at first glance. But, it's not. Becoming part of Bry's family has brought light to my life. Don and Karen's example in the Gospel of Jesus Christ have helped me in ways I can't put into writing. The colors in my square represent my feelings and emotions as a result of the love of my in-laws.. Bright, light, happiness, joy, laughter, love, caring, warmth and fun.

Griff thinks of himself as a Lion. He chose safari type colors. The square itself is supposed to look like the head of a lion. He cross stitched the eyes, nose and mouth.

Isaac loves his grandparents. He feels love from them too. He simply wanted a heart square that would help his grandparents remember how much he loved them.

Noah loves baseball. He chose the fabrics and the iron on.

What a great quilt!! Thanks Marie and Steph for putting this together for Don and Karen!!

Bry's sister Marie is one of the most amazing women I know. First, she is a great wife, wonderful Mom, loving sister and seriously awesome crafter!!

What an awesome gift! I think it is so neat that you got to make squares with your boys of what they wanted to represent about themselves to their grandparents, what a great idea! I am not so crafty, but I totally admire those who are. Your sister-in-law sounds like one of those people for sure! And I'm totally admiring your squares as well, Cathy, I did not know you were such a crafty lady! :)

I second Sarah. That is an amazing gift. It seems like nearly every week I am kicking myself for not learning the art of sewing better from my very excellent seamstress-mother. Probably something I'll regret for forever. I love your squares. They are beautiful (and I particularly love the cross-stiching your boys did to pitch in. Awesome!
